Soul’d Out Music Festival
APRIL 11-24 IN PORTLAND, OREGON

We are excited to be part of the first annual Soul’d Out Music Festival in Portland, OR. The festival will take place over two weeks, throughout eight of Portland’s most prestigious venues. Featuring artists from across the musical spectrum, including jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, soul and more, SOMF brings them all together under the banner of Soulful Music. Soul music, unlike any other, has the unique ability to unite us across perceived differences in race, culture or generation.
The Soul’d Out Music Festival was created in November 2009, with the inaugural festivities scheduled for April 2010, as a means by which to give a platform to music often overlooked by the commercial music industry, as well as to firmly supplant Portland as the West Coast’s premier independently-minded music market.

Soulful, uplifting music, recreated in the live setting, is one of the most healing and profound means of expression humanity has. This music is the most effective tool of bringing about positive social evolution. The organizers offer this festival as the beginning of a new movement towards realizing music’s inherent healing and transformative qualities, and as a means of applying these qualities directly in our ever-expanding community.

JBB tour recap

Greetings! JBB has returned from yet another tour. This one lasted 3 weeks and took us from Portland, ME to Orlando, FL. I have to say, when I saw this tour being planned, I was really psyched that we were heading south in February, which is a pretty dismal month to be in Boston. Little did I know that we would see snow as far south as Chapel Hill, NC! That aside, we had a really good tour. Sold out shows in Burlington, VT, Orlando, FL and Charleston, SC… and what can I say about the Boston House of Blues show? Unbelievable! Our brothers in Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad provided crucial support each night, despite some pretty serious vehicle problems. We met up with our friends SOJA in Wilmington, NC and laid down a GPGDS-JBB-SOJA smackdown on a sold out crowd. That was a crazy night… Also have to big up Tomorrows Bad Seeds from Hermosa Beach. They joined us on the last 4 shows in Florida. Super nice guys… And special love to Savannah and Tallahassee for turning out in full force on a Tuesday and Sunday, which are usually “slow” nights to be playing. You all brought the heat!

Most of us flew back from Jacksonville on Monday… back to the Northeast to tough out the rest of the winter. There are only 4 shows coming up in March, but they are good ones! Toubab Krewe will join us March 11 in Brooklyn and March 12 in Ithaca. Then the highly anticipated JBB/TK tour goes full force in April! We’ll be hitting Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Vancouver BC and many places in between… Check out our site for all dates and all things JBB. It was great to see everyone at the shows… thank you for the love and support.

Philly show moved to Monday, February 8th - 8pm

Because of the weather, Saturday’s show at The North Star in Philadelphia with JOHN BROWN’S BODY and GIANT PANDA GUERILLA DUB SQUAD has been postponed. All tickets will be honored at the new date, this coming Monday February 8th (doors 8pm). Thank goodness for a planned day off! Because of that, we are going to be able to have this amazing show happen after all this bad weather passes. Please stay safe this weekend and plan to join us on Monday for this very special night of Reggae, Dub, and Roots.
Enjoy your snow day and see you on Monday!

February Update

The East Coast tour kicked off with an amazing SOLD OUT show at Higher Ground in Burlington, VT last Saturday. We could not be more thrilled with the positive vibes and great energy from all of you! What a great way to start the three-week tour with our brothers Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad.

For Friday’s hometown Boston show we are teaming up with Youth Enrichment Services to give away two backstage passes during our set at the House of Blues. All you have to do is buy a $5 raffle ticket the night of the show for a chance to win the passes. We are donating ALL proceeds to support Youth Enrichment Services, a Boston-based non-profit supporting life lessons for kids through exposure to outdoor activities like skiing and snowboarding. Tickets will be sold near the merch table and the raffle will be held right before JBB goes on!

The concert has already pre-sold over 1,100 tickets, so grab yours soon and join us Friday at the House of Blues!

We just added a few more shows and invited Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad to share the night with us in Boulder and Denver, Colorado. With strong ticket sales in the first week, the tour should be over the top, loaded with energy and a great atmosphere!

ALSO we need your help to create a special commemorative poster for our two night stand at Castaways in Ithaca this April. Creative Allies is offering to help us and organized an easy way you can get involved.

All details can be found here: JBB CREATIVE ALLIES PAGE
