AMPLIFY New Record by John Brown's Body
Thu, Jun. 26 2008,
John Brown’s Body is pleased to announce the release of their new album AMPLIFY. AMPLIFY will come out on Easy Star Records September 30, 2008, in North America and Japan (followed by an early 2009 release in all other territories).
AMPLIFY continues an evolution in the band’s sound that started with Spirits All Around Us and continued through the 2005 Easy Star release, Pressure Points. It is an explosive album, featuring twelve tracks of drum & bass-heavy, dub-inflected electro grooves that make up the sound JBB is known for, with a forward-thinking, fearless approach to tempos, feel, and beats that expands the genre of roots reggae as a whole. Songs that have become recent live showstoppers like “Give Yourself Over,” “Zion Triad,” and “Push Some Air” are included, as well as many new songs guaranteed to move both long time fans and new converts, such as “Speak Of The Devil,” which features a vocal collaboration with Midnite’s Vaughn Benjamin.
JBB’s last album, Pressure Points, represented one more step moving the band from its roots reggae beginnings towards a more envelope-pushing, futuristic sound. Since then, JBB has gone through significant changes—including the death of bassist Scott Palmer (which is addressed in the song “Ghost Notes,” a touching track that evokes his spirit over music Bon Iver and Steel Pulse might have written had they produced a song together), as well as throat surgery for lead singer Elliot Martin and the departure of several band members. Emerging out of these changes, the band’s new line-up is an astonishingly focused and more experimental outfit ready to rock their fans like never before.
AMPLIFY will be available for pre-order through Easy Star’s web store in mid-July. Look for more info on the pre-order and other JBB news soon. JBB has already scheduled a number of shows in July and August, with a full US tour planned from late September through the end of the year. Dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tonights Outdoor Show POSTPONED Due To Thunderstorms
Thu, Sep. 27 2007,
Sadly, we have been forced to postpone our show in Syracuse. This is an event we've all been excited about and there was much debate over what to do in this situation.
But, after watching the weather for the last few hours, we decided that we couldn't ask our fans to come out and stand outside in the middle of a thunderstorm. We are postponing the show for a few months until we can find the ideal indoor venue (which has been tough in Syracuse as many of you know). We have been working with a show promoter in Syracuse that has some great ideas and enthusiasm and we are committed to coming back into town and making some great music as soon as possible.
Please keep a close watch on our website, and look for our make-up show in Syracuse!
Thanks for understanding,
JBB crew

JBB News
Mon, Sep. 11 2006,
JBB will be moving forward this year without Kevin Kinsella, Dan Delacruz and Chris Welter. After the passing of bass player Scott Palmer, JBB took a step back this summer to reflect, and these three members have decided to branch off and pursue other projects. They are JBB family for life, and will spread the good word around the nations as they play music in various circles.
The band, led by Elliot Martin, drummer Tommy Benedetti, and including original JBB sax player Lee Hamilton, continues with new music, plenty of dates, and a new record in 2007. Matt Goodwin, Mike Keenan, and Nathan Edgar have been with the group since the beginning of the year and have already become integral parts of this next evolution of JBB. As many of you know, Elliot has stepped up alot in recent years, writing crucial tunes like 33 RPM, Original Man, Shadow, and New Blood, and singing lead more on stage. We understand that this is one of the more major personnel changes to happen to the group, however the band looks forward to this next era of JBB with excitement, enthusiasm, and dedication to bringing fresh and original music to the people.

The band had an absolutely amazing time this weekend! JBB was played three times to great response, the last time with the guys from OZOMATLI sitting in. If you havent seen or heard them, do it now. They are unreal! Also, much respect to Mofro, N. Miss All-
Stars, Mike Doughty's Band, Bob Weir, Brent Dennan, Motion Potion, and all the staff and crew on board. Dear Friends
We received some shocking and saddening news last week regarding our bass player Scott Palmer. He has been diagnosed with cancer of the gall bladder and will be undergoing treatment immediately in his hometown of Rochester, NY. He will be in good hands. For those of you attending shows this tour, our close friend Nathan Edgar is playing bass, as Scotts wish for us to continue on during his temporary absence is strong.
Undoubtedly this is hard news for everyone, but first and foremost for our brother and friend Scott and his family. He is saddened to not be able to tour with the band and to play the music that is the blood in our veins. He will be with us in Spirit every step of the way and will return to the stage with the band as soon as he is healthy. He is a member of JBB always, even during tis temporary absence.
Scott has asked that all of us, his family and friends, do our part to help him through this tough time. Through the power of positive thought and of prayer if you do, please take part in the collective strength of our minds and souls and help guide him to recovery. He will undoubtedly get through this hard time and has strength in knowing that the great people that support JBB world-wide will be with him every step of the way.
Please respect his privacy by refraining from phone calls at this time if you are one of the people he gave his number out to. Also, please understand that he has been swamped with calls lately and cant really handle them all right now but wants you all to know hes thinking of you too.
Well wishes and correspondence can be sent to: scott@johnbrownsbody.com
Please understand if you dont get a timely response but he could use the love right about now.
Lastly, please come and support the boys on the road during this tough time. The heart is heavy but the music is medicine and the presence of all of you who have either known us through the years or just happened upon the group will lift spirits. Chant it loud when you see JBB on stage and keep the fire burning for brother Scott!
Monday January 23rd at Club Breeze @ The Tahoe Biltmore. We'll be rocking in Tahoe City with special guests Frame of Mind. Call 530.583.2801 for tickets or click link above.
Fan Sites and Message Boards
Wed, Jan. 11 2006,
For those of you just discovering JBB, we wanted to let you know a few places to connect with other fans to join our network and community. We have a message board here for all things musical and otherwise.....its a pretty open forum. Our myspace page, www.myspace.com/johnbrownsbody.com, is fully functional and a great way to be apart of JBB.
New Players this run...
Sun, Jan. 8 2006,
JBB begins 2006 embarking on another year of bringing our music to the world. For 10 years now, John Brown's Body has maintained its commitment to touring, recording, and doing all it can to survive in the musical world. We expect to make big strides forward in that journey
this year, starting with our upcoming shows with Slightly Stoopid and on the Dave Matthews and Friends Cruise. We are grateful to all who have supported us for this past decade and wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about a few changes within the group.
Nathan 'Silas' Richardson, our longtime organ, clavinet, and lead guitar player, will not be with the band on the upcoming tour with Slightly Stoopid. As some of you may know, Nathan and his wife had a baby this past year, young Silas. Being on the road as much as we are has kept Nate from being with his family in this crucial develpomental stage; so he is stepping down his regular position within the group for the time being. Nathan will still be involved with JBB creatively and certainly
will join us on stage at times throughout the year.
Alex 'Ace' Beram, trombonist and nyabingi drummer for JBB since 2000, assumed full time managerial duties for the band in late 2004 as well. As the band continues to grow and evolve, Ace felt he could most contribute to the organization by holding down the fort at JBB central.
The more he can focus on that, the more JBB can stay on the road, in the studio, making music. Like Nate, Ace will also periodically join the group on stage.
Finally, as those of you who have followed the band through the years can attest to, JBB always comes with the goods. The musicians that will be on stage in place of Nate and Ace will bring their heart and soul with them and represent everything that this band has worked so hard for: a sound that is ours and nobody else's. We look forward to you meeting the new guys at shows and helping make them feel welcome in the JBB family.
See you at the shows!
